Department of Mathematics General Scholarship
Award: $500.
Criteria: Undergraduate mathematics major or a graduate student in mathematics. May be based on either financial need, academic achievement, or exceptional talent within
a discipline. If the award is based on financial need, a FAFSA will need to be on
file with the Financial Aid Office.
Ann L. Wagner Scholarship in Mathematics
Award: Varies from year to year - approximately $750. One award annually.
Criteria: Undergraduate mathematics major, with at least junior standing and a GPA of 3.0 or
higher as of September 1. Special consideration will be given to students preparing
to teach secondary school mathematics. Full-time and part-time students are eligible.
The award is merit based and has no citizenship requirement.
All student recipients are expected to write a thank you note to the donor representative.
Eunice Bowers Schmied'30 and Otto Karl Schmied Scholarship
Award: Varies from year to year - approximately $1500. One or more awards annually.
Criteria: Undergraduate mathematics major, with at least sophomore standing as of September
1.

Joyce C. Neubert Scholarship Endowment
Award: Varies from year to year - approximately $500. One award annually.
Criteria: Undergraduate mathematics major, with junior standing as of March 1. The award is based
on academic achievement, ability, creativity, and interest in Mathematics. Special
consideration will be given to students who have shown a commitment to the Towson
University community.
All student recipients are expected to write a thank you note to the donor representative.
Mary Hudson Scarborough Awards for Excellence
Award: A book. One award annually in each of the following areas: Mathematics, Secondary
Mathematics Education, Elementary Mathematics Education, and Early Childhood Mathematics
Education.
Criteria: Outstanding graduating senior in the respective major: mathematics major, with concentration
not in secondary mathematics education; mathematics major, with concentration in secondary mathematics education; elementary education major, with
a minor in mathematics; early childhood education major, with a minor in mathematics.
Mildred T. Becker Scholarship Endowment
Award: Varies from year to year - approximately $500. One or more awards annually.
Criteria: Full-time junior or senior mathematics major, with a record of academic accomplishments and
a potential for and inclination toward graduate study in a mathematical science or
toward teaching mathematics at the high school level. The recipient is expected to
maintain a full-time course load.

Porter Family Scholarship in Mathematics and Computer Science
Award: $5,000 annually and is renewable up to three additional years as long as the student meets
the criteria. This scholarship alternates between the Mathematics and the Computer
and Information Science Departments.
Criteria: Full-time undergraduate student; Enrolled as a Mathematics or Computer Science major;
3.0 cumulative high-school or post-secondary education G.P.A.; and Financial need
as defined by the Financial Aid Office. This award is for a mathematics or computer
science major who has demonstrated outstanding performance or who has outstanding
potential to do well in the major.
