Fair Chance Higher Education Initiative

The mission of TU’s Fair Chance Higher Education Initiative is to build systems and break down barriers for justice-impacted people to pursue higher education, while raising awareness and providing education about reentry through the engagement of students, staff, faculty and community members.

We are committed to infusing all our efforts with the following core values:

1. honoring the humanity of all those impacted by the criminal justice system, as  evidenced by our commitment to using humanistic language
2. removing barriers to, and creating supports for, incarcerated and justice-impacted students to access higher education
3. engaging, elevating and employing directly impacted people
4. promoting higher education as a social good that promotes positive cascading effects for individuals, for our university, for the region, for the state, and for the nation
