Provost’s Leadership Fellows
The Provost’s Leadership Fellows Program offers the chance for Towson University tenured faculty with extensive department, college and/or university leadership experience to implement a strategic initiative and further develop their capacities as campus leaders.
As a Provost Leadership Fellow you will design and develop a year-long university-wide initiative that advances TU’s mission and institutional priorities. The program will fund up to two fellows annually.
Fellows will receive:
- A $7,500 summer stipend
- Funding to attend a professional leadership development experience selected in consultation with the Provost’s Office (e.g., national leadership institute)
- Support from the Provost’s Office to plan and execute their proposed initiative
- Experience designing, implementing and assessing the impact of a University-wide initiative
Qualifications
- Tenured Associate or Full Professor
- Leadership experience at the department, college and/or university level
- Will not hold a current leadership role (e.g. Chair, Program or Graduate Director, or comparable position) during the fellowship year
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across university units
Selection Process
Applications will be reviewed by a committee convened by the Provost's Office. Finalists may be invited to an interview. The Provost will make the final selections.

Applicants must submit:
- Letter of Intent (2 pages) briefly outlining your proposed initiative, its alignment with the university’s mission, its anticipated impact on the university community and your capacity to implement it
- CV (4 pages) highlighting department, college and/or university leadership experience and/or potential
Completed applications can be sent to Christian Koot, ckoot AT_TOWSON, by the close of business on November 1, 2026.
Submissions will be reviewed based on alignment with mission, feasibility and opportunities for impact.
Timeline
- Fall 2026: Application opens
- Late Fall 2026: selections made
- Spring 2027: Fellows begin developing initiatives
- Summer 2027: Fellows advance project (stipend paid)
- Fall 2027: Fellows implement the project
- January 2028: Fellows present initial results at TU Educators Summit and brief report to the Provost’s Office

- Overhauling course scheduling matrix to advance out of the classroom experiences
- Embedding research in undergraduate programs
