External Siren Test

At 10 a.m. Friday, February 23, Towson University will conduct a test of its external voice emergency system. Please be advised that individuals on or near campus may hear audible warning tones, recorded voice messages and a live voice message indicating that a test is being conducted. No action is necessary.

The Towson University Office of Public Safety is made up of men and women dedicated to protecting and supporting our campus community. We are comprised of the Towson University Police Department, the Office of Environmental Health and Safety, and Access Control, which oversees building access and safety cameras.

Reporting a Crime

Contact the TUPD immediately if you see, experience, or even suspect a crime on campus. We are available 24/7 at 410-704-4444 or . You can also contact us using the SaferMobility app or one of the campus’s emergency blue light phones.

Crime Alerts and Statistics

The university distributes emergency communications whenever there is an urgent incident or imminent threat on campus. We publicly share up-to-date crime incidents, statistics and advisories on our Community Safety Dashboard. A more in-depth description of annual crimes, fires, and safety programs is included in our annual Clery Report. 

Safety and Prevention

Safety starts with awareness. Students, faculty and staff automatically receive emergency text alerts. We encourage the TU community to download the SaferMobility app to stay safe on campus. You can also access on-demand police escorts, the campus SafeRide, safety tips and videos and a wide range of safety services to reduce your chance of becoming a victim of crime.

Emergency text alerts

Students, faculty and staff are automatically enrolled to receive Towson University's emergency text alerts. Parents, community members and other non-affiliated individuals can register to receive emergency text alerts by completing the Emergency Text Alert Sign Up form.
