The goal of the taskforce is to document and promote community engagement opportunities within the Division of Student Affairs.  This taskforce will (1) lay out background information on the strengths and challenges of our current civic engagement activities,  (2) provide an overview of the best practices, (3) enhancing the culture and portfolio of civic engagement opportunities for the TU community. Understanding all initiatives cannot be executed simultaneously while maintaining the high standard of excellence we expect at TU, therefore we will work with our stakeholders on prioritizing each year’s set of initiatives. This will provide CE&SR and our respective stakeholders with the ability to target specific strategic elements to ensure we have collective buy-in as well as the ability to measure the engagement effectively and monitor our progress.

OBJECTIVES

  • Clearly articulate institutional values and expectations of students as engaged citizens, from entry to graduation.
  • Increase student awareness, knowledge, and skills surrounding community engagement.
  • Examine requirements to receive Community Engagement Carnegie classification in 2025.
  • Identify and/or develop assessment tool measuring student civic engagement.
