TU AI Institute

The Towson AI Institute (TAI) is Towson University's home for work on artificial intelligence: research, teaching, and partnerships with the region. The Institute helps faculty and students apply AI in their own fields, with the grounding in the liberal arts that shapes how TU approaches every question.

A University-Wide Institute

TAI works as a coordinating partner, not a replacement, for the strong AI efforts already underway across campus. The Institute collaborates with colleges, the Albert S. Cook Library, and university centers dedicated to AI. Partners include the FACET AI Hub and the Cyber4All Center, a national leader in cybersecurity and CyberAI education. TAI's role is to connect these efforts and bring in resources, partners, and funding that no single unit could reach alone. 

AI at TU

Towson University faculty have published more than 200 research papers on artificial intelligence and machine learning in the past five years, spanning healthcare, education, communications, economics and computer and information sciences. With funding from the National Science Foundation and the Department of Defense, TU leads the national effort to define and designate academic programs in CyberAI. Across every college, faculty are integrating AI into courses, research and engagement with the region.
