Interdisciplinary AI Research

AI research at Towson University spans foundational, applied and ethical work. TAI supports research themes that grow from faculty interests and regional needs, including machine learning, AI in the natural and physical sciences, cybersecurity and CyberAI, AI in education and the learning sciences, and the ethics, policy and societal dimensions of AI. The Institute connects researchers across colleges, helping interdisciplinary teams form around shared questions and emerging funding opportunities.

Supporting Faculty Research

TAI helps faculty bring AI into their scholarship — whether AI is the object of study or a tool for it. The Institute supports faculty in:

  • Accessing national AI research infrastructure, including resources available through the National Artificial Intelligence Research Resource (NAIRR) Pilot
  • Adopting AI-assisted research workflows, from literature analysis to data exploration
  • Identifying collaborators, funding opportunities and student research assistants for AI-related projects
