Children’s Program

A unique program designed to help children grow as artists at all levels, from early-childhood through age 17.

TUCD employs nationally recognized dance faculty and staff who create an encouraging yet challenging environment that engages young dancers to sample the exciting world of sophisticated and inventive choreography and teaching methodology. Our program emphasizes a strong technical foundation, while educating and broadening the mind to appreciate and integrate the artistic voice of dance, past and present, in all forms.

Offering 3 Distinct Programs

Movement Enhancement (ages 18mo – 7yrs)

The enhancement program is an introductory study of dance technique offered to establish a fundamental love of the art of dance. These classes provide students with a fundamental basis of classical training, as well as refinement of self-expression and creativity.

Open Classes (ages 8 – 13yrs)

These classes are offered for beginner-to-intermediate dancers seeking to enhance their technical training, while expanding their knowledge and appreciation of dance.

Pre-Collegiate Program (ages 14 – 17yrs)

Modeled and developed for the serious dancer to acquire more in-depth training and enhance artistry. Classes will concentrate on refining technique, gain strength and stamina, and expand their artistic voice through choreography and repertory. Students are required to take four class per week.

All students enrolled in the Pre-Collegiate program will participate in the National Honor Society for Dance Arts program. The program celebrates the artistic merit, leadership, and academic achievements of exceptional dance students. Students benefits include:

  1. Receive recognition of their artistic merit, academic achievement, and leadership throughout their educational experience at Towson University Community Dance.

  2. Receive a certificate at induction and have the opportunity to receive the gold Honor Pin and wear the blue and white Honor Cord and/or Medallion at graduation.

  3. Mentorship from Chapter Sponsor and networking with peers.

  4. Leadership and development opportunities within their NHSDA Chapter.
