As a Division I volleyball player, Effrosyni “Fay” Bakodimou knows what it takes to scout the competition and create winning game plans — a perfect alignment with the master’s in marketing intelligence.

“Marketing is something I’m passionate about and I love the strategic side of it,” says Bakodimou. With its emphasis on collecting and analyzing data, building models, and applying insights, the master’s in marketing intelligence was a good fit for her.

“My marketing internship in the TU Department of Athletics reinforced the decision for me,” recall Bakodimou, who worked with department staff to broaden fan interaction and engagement, support sponsors and assist with event operations. She also worked as a tutor and helped organized a community volleyball camp at TU.

Professors Philipp Duvergerer and Plamen Peev have helped her navigate the master’s program. “It has been a real privilege for me to talk freely about my choices in the program and to know I could count on my professors’ opinions and guidance on any issues.”

While life as a student-athlete was demanding, the experience prepared her well for future pursuits. “It improved my communication and motivational skills and made me a better team player,” says Bakodimou, who recognizes these very same traits are a competitive advantage in today’s job market.

With a long-term goal to work in the marketing department of a multinational company Bakodimou acknowledges, “This degree will give me all the necessary tools to succeed in marketing.”
