Undergraduate Studies

The Department of Music offers a Bachelor of Music degree with concentrations in performance or composition, a Bachelor of Science degree in music education, and a liberal arts Bachelor of Science degree in music. The department also offers minors in music and music industry to students across Towson University. All music majors and the minor in music are screened, requiring an audition for entry.

Graduate Studies

The Department of Music offers a Master of Music degree in performance, composition, or pedagogy and a Master of Science degree in music education. A graduate certificate in applied music (performance, composition and conducting) is also offered.

Towson University’s Center for the Arts features many state-of-the-art facilities, including smart classrooms, a recording studio, a keyboard lab, practice rooms, computer labs, the Harold J. Kaplan Concert Hall, and a 160-seat Recital Hall.

Scholarships

Students who audition in January and February are eligible for Department of Music scholarship consideration, which for freshmen provide four years of support and for transfer students two years. After admission, full- and part-time students can apply for a number of scholarships and competitions within the department based on talent and achievement.
