Towson Theatre Lab

The Towson Theatre Lab is a bi-weekly gathering of students, faculty and community members interested in listening to, viewing and responding to new works.

Participants bring in early drafts of scripts or performance pieces to which they desire a response and the assembled company responds to the work in a compassionate, critical and inspiring manner.

• Playwrights, performance artists, actors, directors, anyone interested in working with emerging works are invited to attend.
• We recognize that playwrights and artists may need to hear, see or observe reactions to their work in a nascent stage, before proceeding onto the next phase of the creative process.
• The playwright or artist may also solicit responses from the assembled company. If responses are desired, the company responds to the work in a compassionate, critical and inspiring manner.

The Lab also provides the opportunity for actors, directors and dramaturgs to hone their skills in cold readings, listening to new works and bringing those works to life in their imaginations and the imaginations of those gathered.  The Lab also hosts playwriting workshops throughout the year, including workshop by vising playwrights including George Brant.
