Scholarships for Current Majors

The Theatre Arts Department awards scholarships for continuing theatre students through the following endowments.

  • Gillespie/Loeschke Scholarship Endowment
  • John Glover Scholarship Endowment for Acting Majors
  • Nina E. Hughes Memorial Scholarship Endowment
  • Christopher David Legg Memorial Scholarship
  • Peter Wray Scholarship
  • Steve Yeager Scholarship Endowment
  • Theatre Department Scholarship Endowment

The exact amount of the awards is determined yearly, and ranges from $200 to $3,000. 

Some scholarships are for a single year, and some are renewable.

Scholarships are awarded on the basis of merit rather than financial need. Awards are for the academic year beginning in August 2018. The money is credited to the student's expenses by semester and the recipient must meet all eligibility requirements each semester.


To be eligible for a scholarship, a student must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a theatre major
  • Be matriculated at Towson University as a degree candidate when the application is made
  • Be a full-time student (minimum of 12 credit hours)
  • Have contributed significantly to the artistic efforts of the Department of Theatre Arts

To apply for a scholarship, you must:
1. Complete a scholarship application form.
2. Include an unofficial transcript from Towson Online Services.
3. Electronically submit the form along with the transcript by 5:00 p.m. on February 2, 2018.

Application Submission Procedures

To submit an application online, download the scholarship application. You can then open the form with your word processing program. Type in your information, save the file as your name.rtf (for example Jay Herzog's file would be titled "herzog.rtf") and attach it to an email to .
