Notes for Majors

Mathematics majors who receive a grade of  “D” in a 100 level course prerequisite to calculus must repeat the course no later than concurrent with calculus.  Mathematics majors or minors must attain a grade of  “C” or higher in any 200, 300 or 400 level course used as a prerequisite or applied towards a major or minor.  Unless otherwise noted, prerequisites must be satisfied prior to taking a course.

For mathematics majors concentrating in Pure Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or those majors not following a concentration, the Department of Mathematics recommends that PHYS 241 be taken to help satisfy the Core Curriculum Requirement 7 (Biological and Physical Sciences (Lab only), or Core Curriculum Requirement 8 (Biological and Physical Sciences (Lab & Non-Lab). 

Actuarial Science and Risk Management Concentration

ENGL 317 Writing for Business and Industry (3 units) must be taken to fulfill the Core Curriculum Requirement 2 (English Composition).
