Lifeguard 

Maintain safe swimming conditions in the pool, deck, and surrounding areas. Create a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement in accordance with Campus Recreation user guidelines and procedures. Must hold current Red Cross Lifeguarding, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, and First Aid certifications.

 

Safety Instructor

By following the American Red Cross curriculum, Safety Instructors will teach safety course material for those seeking certification for CPR, AED, First Aid and/or Lifeguarding. Must hold current American Red Cross Lifeguarding Instructorcertification OR American Red Cross CPR/AED with First Aid for Professional Rescuers Instructor certification.

 

Water Safely Instructor 

Responsible for planning, coordinating, and teaching learn-to-swim and water safety courses. Individuals will vary in age ranging from six months through adults. Patrons will range in skill level from beginner to advanced. Must hold current American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification. 

 

ALL positions require an American Red Cross certification upon applying.

Intramural Sports Official 

Officiate Intramural Sports contests including: basketball, flag football, futsal, soccer, softball, and volleyball. Maintain a high sense of integrity while consistently and fairly enforcing the rules of the game. No prior experience is required, as training will be provided.

 

Sport Club Supervisor 

Assist in the management of the Sport Clubs Program by advising clubs and coordinating important aspects of the program including travel, home events, and risk management.

Student Personnel Manager 

The Student Personnel Manager (SPM) will assist with full cycle recruiting and onboarding processes. The SPM will complete daily file maintenance, assist with on-boarding and offboarding student employees. The SPM will serve as a facilitator during information sessions, new employee orientation, and tabling events, and general office clerical work. This individual reports to the Assistant Director - Employee Experience.

Facility Assistant

The Facility Assistant performs daily facility operations responsibilities to assist the Facility Manager and professional staff members such as, supervising the set-up/teardown of informal recreation activities, reservations and events, complete facility walkthroughs as well as complete headcounts. Facility Assistant position will assist with maintaining a safe and enjoyable facility environment, while serving as the first point of contact for participants and access control for the facility. Providing excellent customer service and support to participants by providing conflict resolution, information about Campus Recreation programs, services, and facilities, is also expected of a Facility Assistant. Other duties may be assigned by supervisor. Must hold current certifications in American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider/AED and First Aid.

Fitness Floor Attendant 

Fitness floor attendants are responsible for the overall safety, cleanliness, providing customer service and oversight of over 22,000 square feet of fitness floor space in Burdick Hall. Must be certified in American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider/AED and First Aid within 30 days of employment.

 

Group Fitness Instructor

The role of the Group Fitness Instructor is to provide safe and effective group fitness instruction to patrons promoting a commitment to healthier lifestyles and upholding the mission of Campus Recreation by creating a welcoming, inclusive environment.  A successful group fitness instructor will stay current on industry information, attend meetings/trainings, and retain participant interest with motivating classes and trainings.  Group Fitness Instructors are overseen by the Group Fitness Manager and Group Fitness Coordinator. Instructors must possess and maintain a nationally recognized Group Fitness Instructor certification (AFAA, NETA, ACE, Fitour etc.) or a specialized fitness certification (Zumba, Les Mills, Yoga, Barre, etc.) Must certify and maintain skills in CPR/AED and First Aid for the Professional Rescuer within in 30 days of being hired.

 

Personal Trainer 

Personal trainers are responsible for creating safe and effective fitness programs for clients based on their goals and assessment results. Possess and maintain a nationally recognized Personal Training certification (ACE, NASM, NSCA, ACSM, AFFA, NETA or similar). Must be certified in American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider/AED and First Aid within 30 days of employment.

Graphic Designer 

As a member of the Marketing team, the Graphic Designer is responsible for the creative design of marketing materials to promote Campus Recreation programs and services. The Graphic Designer will work closely with the Graphic Design Program Assistant and the Marketing and Communications Graduate Assistant to produce high-quality print and digital designs. The successful candidate will have a working knowledge of graphic design elements and software.

 

Marketing Event Assistant 

As a member of the Marketing team, the Marketing Event Assistant facilitates marketing outreach through flyer distribution and face-to-face promotions. The successful candidate must be passionate, energetic, and willing to become well-versed in Campus Recreation programs and services. Must complete TU Ladder Safety Program.

 

Videographer

As a member of the Marketing team, the Videographer supports Marketing and Communication initiatives by capturing visual representations of Campus Recreation programs, facilities and events. The successful candidate will have experience in videography and have a knowledge of video editing software.

 

Photographer

As a member of the Marketing team, the Photographer supports marketing and communication initiatives by capturing visual representations of Campus Recreation programs, facilities and events. The successful candidate will have a working knowledge of photographic composition and photo editing software.

 

Social Media Assistant

As a member of the Marketing team, the Social Media Assistant is responsible for supporting the implementation of Campus Recreation marketing and communication strategies through social media. This position is responsible for developing and managing Campus Recreation’s main social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. The successful candidate must be familiar with and have experience using social media platforms.

Guest Services Attendant 

Guest Services Attendants are able to provide exceptional customer service, be innovative leaders, and provide dynamic support to members and guests through information in campus recreation programs, services, and facilities. Guest Services Attendants serve as the liaison between the program areas of Campus Recreation and the members and guests.

Belay Attendant 

Belay Attendants are the primary point-of-contact for participants at the Climbing Wall.  Belay Attendants first role is to provide belays for participants and maintain a space where all risks are managed appropriately.  Belay Attendants are also responsible for the education and community-building of the participants at the Outdoor Adventure Center.  Successful Belay Attendants have developed a strong sense of climbing at the OAC, select appropriate routes for climbers, and make all participants feel included and welcome to the OAC. Must pass a Top-Rope Belay Skills Check prior to first day of work. Must be certified in American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider/AED and First Aid within 30 days of employment. Applicants are subject to a background check, and employment is contingent upon the institution’s verification of the completion of the background check.

 

Desk Attendant

Desk Attendants oversee participant access to the Outdoor Adventure Center, teach participants how to use climbing equipment, manage risks through explaining and managing waivers, and are able to troubleshoot and answer general questions about Campus Recreation and Outdoor Adventures.

 

Gear Rental Attendant

Gear Rental Attendants are the front line of customer service for the Gear Rental program that Towson University offers to students, faculty, and staff.Successful Gear Rental Attendants are able to independently problem solve,take initiative in finding tasks to complete, communicate to other student employees the Gear Rental process, and maintain an organized workspace of a variety and high volume of equipment.

 

Teambuilding Instructor

This position works collaboratively with other staff to plan and implement team-building programs on the Glen Arboretum Challenge Course, the Climbing Wall, and indoor locations across campus.

 

Outdoor Trip Leader

Outdoor Trip Leaders are volunteers for Campus Recreation.In their role, theyare responsible for planning and leading day and overnight Outdoor Trips.In addition to leading trips, Outdoor Trip Leaders are responsible for assisting with new Outdoor Trip Leader trainings as well as leading Project Explore.
