Gear Rental

Want to plan your own outdoor adventure, but don’t know where to start? Take advantage of Campus Recreation's Gear Rental program, which offers all the equipment needed for camping and exploring to TU students, faculty, and staff.

How It Works:

  1. Select your equipment from the Rental Items list.
  2. Complete a Rental Request form. Rental Requests must be submitted at least 3 days before the desired pick-up date. All rental pick-ups and returns must be made during designated Gear Rental hours.
  3. Outdoor Adventures will call to confirm your rental request, your rental period, as well as go over your rental invoice and sizing information.
  4. An invoice will be emailed to your TU email address. Please pay for your rental via online through the invoice or at the Membership & Guest Services desk in Burdick Hall. All payments must be completed before pick-up.
  5. After paying for your rental, you may arrive at the Outdoor Adventure Center during designated Gear Rental hours on your requested pick-up day.
  6. Grab your gear and adventure away!
  7. Our staff will give you a courtesy phone call on your return date with a reminder and instructions for how to return your gear.

Guidelines:

  1. All Gear Rental payments must be made online through the invoice sent to your TU email or in person at the Membership & Guest Services Desk in Burdick Hall. Payments must be made prior to pick-up.
  2. All Gear Rental users must present their OneCard at time of pick up.
  3. All Gear Rental users must complete a Rental Agreement at the time of pick up.
  4. Only Campus Recreation members may rent gear. Sponsored guests may not rent equipment from the Gear Rental program.
  5. Gear Rental users may rent up to two pieces of equipment of its type. The Gear Rental user is responsible for all equipment under their rental and/or name.
  6. All equipment is rented in 'as is' condition. All Gear Rental users are subject to late, damage, maintenance, and/or replacement fees as determined by Campus Recreation Professional Staff. Any additional fees that the user incurs will be billed to the user's Bursar account.

Semester Passes

Rent more, so you can save more! Take advantage of our semester passes to make the most of your experience. Semester passes are available to all Campus Recreation members for unlimited rentals.

Unlimited 4-Day Rental Pass

Campus Recreation members may use as many free 4-Day rentals as they like when they purchase this pass.

Additional Fees:

  1. All returned equipment will be inspected by Gear Rental staff upon return. Gear Rental staff will note any damages to the Coordinator - Outdoor Adventure Center.
  2. The renter will be emailed within two (2) business days of their rental return indicating any equipment damages and their associated fees.
  3. Damage fees will be determined depending on the severity of the damage and the materials needed to repair the damages.
  4. Outdoor Adventures reserves the right to determine a damage as 'irreparable' and the renter will need to pay a replacement fee.

Standard Fees are as Follows:

  • Cleaning or Drying Fee: $20
  • Maintenance Labor Fee: $15
  • Maintenance Material Fee (small part replacement): At cost
  • Lost or Total Replacement: At cost + 10%

Late Fees:

  1. Equipment is due the Monday following pick-up.  Renters may not extend their equipment rental period after the initial equipment check-out. 
  2. Renters will be called with a reminder on the date that their equipment is due back.  If the renter does not return their equipment by Gear Rental closing time on the due date, they are subject to late fees. 
  3. Late fees will be charged per day late and per item. Late fees vary and are dependent upon the type of equipment. 
  4. Renters have 14 days to return equipment past its due date. After 14 days, renters will be charged a replacement fee (full item cost + 10%), in addition to the per diem late fees.
