Internships

During the second year students are required to complete a clinical or research internship at a location of their choosing. Towson University students have consistently received placements at prestigious institutions all across Maryland. Below is a sample of the locations where students have completed internships in the past. Although we have a recommended list of sites, students are also welcome to identify new locations for internships. In the latter instance, new internship sites must be approved by the program director before the student may begin the placement.

Clinical internships experiences may include assessment, group and individual therapy, case management, treatment planning.

Research internship experiences may include assessment, collecting and analyzing data, developing manuscripts for publication, assisting with grant and research proposal writing.

Combined internship sites contain both research and clinical responsibilities.

Students can gain experience in clinical work and research with adults, children, or both.  Students who choose to complete an internship focusing on children may be required to take additional coursework.
