Women's Chorus

FALL 2017 AUDITION INFORMATION FOR ALL CHOIRS

All students who wish to sing in University Chorale, Women's Chorus, or Men's Chorus need to audition. 

Auditions will be held:
Wednesday May 10 from 9 - 3 P.M.
Thursday May 11 from 9 - 3 P.M.
Friday May 12 from 9 - 3 P.M.

October 14, All Choirs, mid-semester performance, 3:00 P.M.
October 27, High School Choral Festival
November 18, Women's and Men's Chorus performance, 3:00 P.M.
December 2, Chorale performance, 3:00 P.M.
December 3, Choral Society performance, 7:30 P.M.

University Chorale

MUSA 251/451/651, Section 001 (1 credit)
Rehearsal Times: T/Th 2:00 - 3:15 p.m.
Open to ALL TU STUDENTS REGARDLESS OF MAJOR

The University Chorale is the premiere undergraduate ensemble specializing in the highest quality choral literature from all style periods. The ensemble performs both on and off campus, collaborates with local and regional ensembles, tours locally, regionally or nationally. 

Women's Chorus

Rehearsal Times: M/W 2:00 - 3:15 p.m.
Open to ALL TU STUDENTS REGARDLESS OF MAJOR

The Women’s Chorus is comprised of undergraduate students who enjoy singing a wide variety of choral literature for treble voices. The group also provides students a forum for friendship through music-making, as well as outside opportunities for socializing. This ensemble performs both on and off campus.

Men's Chorus

MUSA 252/452/652, Section 101 Men’s (1 credit)
Rehearsal Times: T/Th 5:15 - 6:30 p.m.
Open to ALL TU STUDENTS REGARDLESS OF MAJOR

The Men’s Chorus is comprised primarily of undergraduate students who enjoy singing a wide variety of choral literature for men’s voices. The group also provides students a forum for friendship through music-making, as well as outside opportunities for socializing. This ensemble performs both on and off campus.

Choral Society

Choral Society - MUSA 150/350/650
Rehearsal Times: M 7:00 – 9:40, CA 3069

Non-auditioned. Open to all Towson University students regardless of major. Also open to community members who do not attend Towson University. The Choral Society is a 50-member choir that sings an extensive variety of choral music ranging from sacred to secular, modern to ancient and small to major works. Throughout its long history, beginning in the 1960’s, the Choral Society has performed major works with chorus and orchestra such as Handel’s Messiah, Brahms’ Requiem and Haydn’s Creation. This ensemble is a non-auditioned group that encourages all who want to experience the joy of singing in a choir to join. 

This season’s selections are designed to inspire wonder in all.  They hope you can join us for this exciting concert on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at 7:30 p.m.

This semester’s program will include:

  • Bricusse & Newley, Arranged by Matthew Nielsen: Pure Imagination
  • David Childs: The Moon is Distant from the Sea, a poem by Emily Dickinson
  • Andre Thomas: Walk the Streets of Gold
  • Randall Thompson: The Best of Rooms
  • Edward Henderson: Your Fragrance, excerpt of a poem by Jalal al-din Rumi
  • Daniel Pinkham: Christmas Cantata (Sinfonia Sacra) for Chorus and Double Brass Choir
  • John Rutter: Gloria. Ordinary of the Mass for mixed voices, brass
