Artificial Intelligence Hub

The AI Hub seeks to leverage the talents of faculty, students and staff across the university for innovations in teaching and research in order to position Towson University as a leader.

The AI Hub will serve as a one-stop academic center for faculty and student research and pedagogical advancement in artificial intelligence. It will host an AI resource depot, bringing together AI-related resources from across the campus.

The AI Hub is developing multiple initiatives, which are being phased in over the course of the 2025-2026 academic year.

AI Hub Initiatives

The TU AI Hub is advancing the applications of AI on teaching and research through a new interdisciplinary faculty initiative hosted by FACET.

Program Highlights

  • Two Fellows Per College, Per Year: One focused on teaching, one on research.
  • Collaborative Workspace: Fellows work in FACET (Cook Library, Smith Hall)
  • Train-the-Trainer Model: Each cohort mentors the next, building sustainable expertise.
  • Interdisciplinary Community: Fellows join a cross-campus network to share and grow AI practices.
  • College Champions: Fellows lead AI efforts and connect faculty and students to opportunities.

The TU AI Hub will expand interdisciplinary opportunities for students to explore and apply AI through research, coursework, and community collaboration.

Program Highlights

  • Research Opportunities: Undergraduate and graduate students work with
  • Faculty AI Fellows in Research during summer projects focused on AI applications.
  • Skill-Building Workshops: Topics include research design, IRB approval, data analysis, and dissemination.
  • Course-Based Research (CUREs): Faculty AI Fellows in Teaching collaborate with FACET’s CURE Fellow to embed research experiences into undergraduate courses.
  • Career-Ready Training: Fellows partner with community organizations to identify AI competencies across disciplines and develop student training materials.

The TU AI Hub is developing an AI training course to build students’ general literacy and discipline-specific competencies in AI — preparing them to use emerging technologies ethically and effectively.

Program Highlights

  • AI Foundations: Students learn to use AI as a tool for learning, research, and creative innovation.
