Towson University has grown increasingly concerned with the environment and issues
of sustainability. The Office of Civic Engagement & Social Responsibility sponsors many
events that foster conversation and sustainability for engaging the campus community to
become active stewards for the environment.
Retreat for Environmental Action (REA)
Fall Semester
The Retreat for Environmental Action (REA) serves as an incubator for student-led
action on environmental issues. Students attending the fourth annual Retreat will
have the opportunity to:
- Deepen their understanding of ecology, environmental justice, and sustainability
- Connect with students & faculty who share their passion for the environment
- Develop action plans to tackle environmental issues, and execute those plans throughout
the academic year
- Enjoy the woods, wetlands, and cabins at the TU Field Station (Transportation will
be provided from Towson University)

Campus Sustainability Month
Each October, the university celebrates sustainable action and education during National
Campus Sustainability Month. A range of programs, events, informational displays and
giveaways help spread awareness of global sustainability initiatives and invite students,
faculty and staff to take part in the campus' sustainability goals. Stay tuned on

Environmental Conference
Spring Semester
Due to COVID-19, the Environmental Conference will not take place in 2022. The annual
Environmental Conference takes aims to raise awareness among students, faculty, and
staff about environmental topics, issues and solutions. For more information regarding
