Benefits of Participating in the PawPrints Program

Promoting Civic Engagement is a university priority that is captured in the Towson University 2020 plan. Integration of newspapers into course curriculum allows for discussion and reflection on topics that have direct impact on the students, from social issues and new technology to the global economy and career opportunities. PawPrints provides opportunities for students to get civically engaged at TU by:

  • Encouraging critical thinking
  • Promoting global awareness
  • Cultivating social responsibility
  • Bringing relevancy to the classroom
  • Fostering serendipitous learning

You can access The New York Times in Education Teaching Toolkit online. If you would like to share teaching examples from your classrooms, we encourage you to submit them for future inclusion.
