Information for first-time college students new to Towson University.

2024 - 2025 Housing Application Process

We are excited you have chosen Towson University! Please utilize the following information as a guide in navigating the Incoming Freshmen Housing Process. If you have any questions after reviewing the information, please email us at .

  1. Submit Your TU Enrollment Deposit: To officially accept your offer of admission, please submit the $200 non-refundable Enrollment Deposit and your Enrollment Form in your TU Admissions Portal. The deposit will secure your spot in the incoming class and will be applied to your tuition bill.
  2. Activate Your NetID: Once admitted to the university, activate your student NetID and student email
    1. Only students who have submitted their Enrollment Deposit and Form, and have activated their NetID, are able to access the Housing Application. You must complete Steps 1 and 2 above before proceeding to Step 3 below.
  3. Complete Phase 1 of the Housing Process by May 17th:
    1. Log on to the Student Housing Gateway
    2. Fill out the housing application
    3. Sign and agree to the terms and conditions of the housing contract
    4. Pay the $350 non-refundable housing advance payment
    5. Utilize this Housing Application Guide for assistance
    6. Gender Inclusive Housing: All housing assignments are made based on legal sex, unless the student requests Gender Inclusive Housing. Gender inclusive housing can be requested during within the Housing Application.
  4. Apply for a Living Learning Community by May 23rd (optional): Learn more about these communities via our Living Learning Communities webpage. You can apply for a Living Learning Community through the Student Housing Gateway after completing your Housing Contract. Honors students do not need to apply for the Honors LLC, they will be added by the Honors Program. The deadline for applying for an LLC is May 23, 2024.
  5. Complete Phase 2 of the Housing Process - Roommate Group Process starts April 2nd and ends May 23rd (optional): During this phase, you are able to find and confirm your roommate through the Student Housing Gateway. Utilize the Roommate Matching Guide to help you complete this step in the process. All roommate requests will need to be mutual, meaning the invited roommate(s) must accept the request. Students with roommate requests will need to select/accept their roommate by May 23, 2024.
    1. You can skip this phase to be matched with a roommate based on the answers you provided in your housing questionnaire.
  6. Medical Accommodations are due by June 15: Students that have a medical need for housing accommodations must submit their accommodation request through the office of Accessibility and Disability Services.
  7. Receive Your Housing Assignment and Move-In Information on August 2nd: An email will be sent to students on or by August 2nd notifying them of their housing assignment, roommate information, and Move-In information.
  8. Complete the Freshmen New Student Checklist: For more details see the To-Do List.
  9. Become Familiar with the Packing for College List: You can find a list of recommended items you should bring as well as what not to bring on the Packing for College list
Housing Contract Cancellations

A student who wishes to be released from this Contract prior to the first day of fall classes (the “Fall Pre-Term Period”) but who does not meet the criteria listed for cancellation set in the 2024-2025 Housing Contract (PDF), may elect to pay a Fall Pre-Term Cancellation Fee and be released.  A Fall Pre-Term Cancellation Request Form must be completed and submitted by the student before the first day of Fall Classes. The applicable Pre-Term Cancellation Fee amount will be assessed in accordance with the following fee schedule below.

Please note: Harris Hall and Tubman Houses and Millennium Hall are not operated by the university. Any monies paid to Capstone Properties cannot be transferred to the university.
