Gender Inclusive Housing

Gender Inclusive Housing (GIH) is a voluntary housing option where students can be assigned to live in the same room with any other student regardless of sex assigned at birth, gender identity, gender expression, or sexual orientation.

This housing option is available for students of any gender identity, that complete a housing contract and pay a housing deposit, to live together in shared rooms or apartments. Students who select this housing option must submit a Gender Inclusive Housing Agreement in order to finalize their interest. This option is available in all university housing buildings except, Residence Tower (unless as a member of the LLC), Prettyman, Scarborough, and Richmond.

First-year (freshmen) students, Transferring students, and Returning residents who complete a Gender Inclusive Housing Agreement will be assigned within university housing as long as they have paid a housing deposit to Housing & Residence Life by the stated deadline.

Returning residents who did not have a housing contract with university housing for the 2023-2024 academic year who have an interest in Gender Inclusive Housing are able to contact Millennium Hall and select Application/Forms.

Important Information

This housing option is offered based on availability, the student's eligibility for on-campus housing, and meeting all deadlines for submission of the housing advance payment and housing contract. Housing assignments are considered based on individual needs, preferences, and space availability. Unless a student is matched in a roommate group and/or preferences are provided, students assigned within Gender Inclusive Housing will be assigned with another student selecting GIH.

Completion of a Gender Inclusive Housing Agreement does not guarantee an assignment in a GIH room/apartment.

GIH is located in a variety of buildings with a variety of price points. You can view a full break down of housing rates here. For timeline and process information, please refer to the respective webpages listed below.
