Speak Up, Speak Out! Summer Camp

The Speak Up, Speak Out! Advocacy Summer Camp for Middle School Girls trains girls to use their voices and speak out on issues they care deeply about. The curriculum includes confidence building, interpersonal communication, public speaking and advocacy training.

Camp Experience

This camp is designed specifically for middle school girls (ages 11-13) to strengthen their advocacy skills, public speaking and confidence building.

Participating campers will:

  • work with Towson University faculty and TU students and peer mentors in the Public Communication Center who specialize in advocacy
  • receive personalized coaching and mentorship
  • participate in training and development sessions
  • enjoy campus recreation built into the camp experience
  • participate in an advocacy showcase at the end of the week

Camp Details

Dates

  • Monday, July 15-Friday, July 19, 2024, 9 am-4 pm, with lunch and snacks provided
  • Friday, July 19, 3-4 pm: Advocacy Showcase for friends and family

Cost

  • $300 for the week (lunch and snacks are provided)

Scholarships

Cancellation Policy

  • Cancellations before July 1 will receive a 50% tuition refund (minus a $50 cancellation fee).
  • No refunds will be issued after July 1, whether or not the student attended camp.

  • Refillable water bottle
  • Sneakers--we will be in locations that require closed toed shoes and will be outside
  • Writing utensils and a notebook
  • Sunscreen
  • A light sweater or sweatshirt for cooler indoor spaces
