How does tutoring work?

Tutorial services are provided free-of-charge and depend upon the availability of a qualified tutor. Students are assisted on a first-come, first-served basis and are provided group appointment-based or group drop-in tutoring, depending on the course.

Group tutoring appointments are scheduled weekly and limited to two students for up to one appointment per week, per course.

How do I get tutoring?

Depending upon the subject, tutoring is either offered by small group appointment or by drop-in sessions. Visiting the specific links for each subject area will provide information about which courses are tutored and what type of tutoring is available. If tutoring is available by small group appointment, visit TracCloud to see available appointments and schedule a session. For help with scheduling an appointment, follow the TracCloud instructions (PDF).

How do I prepare for tutoring?

Before attending a tutoring session, please come prepared with your course syllabus, book(s), and specific questions. Note: tutoring sessions can be canceled if you come unprepared. Tutors will assist you, but not complete your work for you.

How do I cancel a tutoring session?

Students unable to attend their appointments should cancel the appointment online using TracCloud, in person or by phone (410-704-2291) at least 24 hours before the scheduled appointment. More than two missed appointments or cancellations with less than 24 hours notice, will result in being unable to schedule future appointments during the semester.

If you no longer need tutorial assistance, or drop or withdraw from a course, please inform your tutor and the Tutoring and Learning Center immediately. Other students may be waiting for help.
