About the Event

Skills to Pay the Bills is a workshop-style event hosted by CBE's Young Alumni Advisory Council for students. The event kicks off with a recruiting panel, followed by two breakout sessions focusing on honing your soft skills. Come early for the opportunity to:

  • Have a professional headshot taken
  • Get your resume reviewed by an industry expert
  • Network with business professionals in your desired field

Group Session

Hear from a panel of experienced talent acquisition and recruiting professionals as they share what it takes to break through the bots and get your resume seen by a real human. 

Get Hired: Insights from Recruiting Professionals: Break through the noise and get noticed in a competitive, AI-guarded job market. This panel features experienced recruiters who will share insider perspectives about navigating automated applicant tracking systems and what makes candidates stand out. After the group session, participants will attend the following breakout sessions.

  1. Navigating Negotiations and Hard Conversations - Feel prepared for even the most intimidating workplace conversations. This session explores strategies for addressing common challenges, from resolving team disputes to managing client demands and providing constructive feedback. Learn how to approach these conversations with empathy, clarity, and professionalism. 
  2. Investing in Your Future -  Set yourself up for long-term success with smart financial and professional decisions. This session breaks down the basics of budgeting, building credit, and understanding your FICO score, along with an introduction to retirement planning (no, it’s never too early!).
