How do I select my roommate?
If you have other students that you want to live with, you will have to create a roommate
group before room selection. All roommate groups must be of the same legal sex unless
requesting gender-inclusive housing.
Roommate groups are composed of a leader and members. The leader is the person that
creates the roommate group and sends invites to students they would like in their
roommate group.
To do so,
- The leader will need to know the TU ID numbers of the students they would like in
a roommate group.
- Once a student accepts the invite, they will become a member of that leader's roommate
group.
- To accept or deny a roommate group invitation, visit the student housing gateway and
click on “roommate groups”.
- The leader can use that same link to add or remove members of the roommate group.
There is no need to create a roommate group for yourself if you are not looking for
a roommate. You can only be a member of ONE roommate group. Only students with a signed contract and paid deposit for 2023-2024
will be able to be pulled into a roommate group.
room selection timeline
The date and time you gain access to the room selection process is based on the total

NOTE: If you do not participate in room selection your housing contract will be cancelled.

Frequently Asked Questions
What if I cannot afford the $350 deposit?
You can submit a housing deposit deferral via the student housing gatewayby submitting a copy of your FAFSA student aid report once the deposit process opens.
This option is only available for students currently living on campus. Typically,
if you submit a housing deposit and remain in housing for the full academic year your
deposit is deducted from your spring housing bill. By submitting a deferral, you will
owe the full housing charge for the spring term. If you cancel your contract before
the beginning of the spring term you will be charged the $350 for the housing deposit.
What if I want to live in Gender Inclusive Housing?
Applications are due by April 1, 2023 and can be found under Additional Housing Options
at towson.edu/housing.
Are current on-campus students who move off campus for Fall 2023 eligible to move
back on-campus for Spring 2024?
If students decide to move off campus, they will be eligible to move back on-campus
for spring 2024 pending housing availability. Please contact Housing & Residence Life if you have questions about availability.
Aren’t students who currently live on-campus guaranteed housing?
New freshmen are guaranteed on-campus housing for four consecutive semesters as long
as they meet all deadline. All other students are offered housing on a space available
basis. For more information, please see section 4 of the housing contract.
Will this same process be in place the following year (2024-2025)?
We will review our process at that time and adjust as necessary.
Am I eligible to live in Harris Hall or Tubman House and how do I apply?
Any student looking to apply, please visit www.harristubman.com.
If I cannot return to live on-campus, how will this affect my financial aid?
Financial Aid eligibility does not change for a student who moves off campus, unless
you are a recipient of the MHEC guaranteed access grant. The only other exception
is when a student moves back into their parent’s house. Please call the Financial
Aid Office if you have any questions at 410-704-4236.
What are the housing rates for 2023-2024?
Please see the Housing & Residence Life website for these rates.
Please note, room rates are tentative and subject to approval.
