Housing and Residence Life is excited to add 197 bed spaces at The Residences at 10 West Burke Avenue.  Newly enrolled full-time transfer students are only eligible to live in The Residences at 10 West. First-time first-year students and continuing students are not eligible to live in The Residences at 10 West.

The Residences at 10 West offers a 9-month housing option and consists of one and two-bedroom apartments. Each apartment includes the following:

  • Wall-to-wall carpet, curtains, an AC/heating unit is available in each room.
  •  A convenience kitchen with microwave, mini fridge and dishwasher are available on floors 2-5, and a fully equipped kitchen which includes a 4-burner stove, a two shelved oven, refrigerator, and microwave are available on floors 6-15. Plan to bring pots/pans, dishes, silverware, glasses, small appliances, and other necessities.
  • Each bedroom is furnished with a double, queen, or king size bed, built-in closet and dresser.  Room Kitchen/Bed Configurations (PDF)
  • The combination living/dining room is equipped with a sofa, an entertainment center, coffee table, end table, dining table, chairs and a desk.
  • The amenities included in the room rates are utilities (including cable, internet, and electric heat/AC).

The building provides:

  • A large laundry room, some apartments are equipped with washer/dryer in the unit.
  • Mailboxes are in the lobby.
  • A parking garage is located under the building. Permits can be obtained through Parking Services.

The Residences at 10 West Burke Avenue is staffed by a live-in Residence Life Coordinator and 7 Resident Assistants. This building is secured 24-hours a day with a card access system. The card access system is used by students to gain entry to the building and elevators. Student workers or security guards staff the front desk.

Who is eligible to live in The Residences at 10 West Burke Avenue?

Students eligible to live in The Residences at 10 West Burke Avenue for the 2018-2019 academic year are newly admitted Towson University transfer students beginning in fall 2018 who are full-time enrolled students taking a minimum of 12 credits per semester.

Will I have a roommate?

A majority of the apartments are single occupancy apartments. There are limited 2 bedroom apartments. All bedrooms are single occupancy.

What is included in the apartment?

Each apartment includes a bed, desk, closet, and dining room table & chairs. 

Is there laundry in each apartment?

A select number of apartments have laundry included in the apartment. For apartments that do not have laundry in the unit, there will be a community laundry room located on the first floor.

Do I have to have a meal plan?

Meal plans are required for those living in an apartment with a convenience kitchen. Students living in an apartment with a full kitchen do not have to have a meal plan, but can choose one if they want.

What is the cost?

There are 3 different price points for apartments: $4,494, $5,232, and $5,385 per student per semester. View the chart below for cost per resident.

Are there any Residential Learning Communities in the building?

No, at this time there are no Residential Learning Communities in the building.

Will I be able to return to The Residences at 10 West Burke Avenue for a second or third year if I choose to return to University Housing?

Yes, you will be able to return to The Residences at 10 West Burke Avenue for year two, you may also return for year three based on credit eligibility at that time.

How do I sign up?

The process will begin on March 1, 2018. If all spaces are filled, you will be able to place yourself on an interest list, we will contact you if space becomes available.

What if I decide to cancel after I have paid my deposit?

The $350 housing deposits is non-refundable. If you choose to cancel your contract you must contact Housing & Residence Life at housing@towson.edu from your Towson University email account.

Where will I park? 

A parking pass must be obtained through Parking Services. A limited number of spaces will be available for parking in the garage underneath the building.

What is the staffing in the building?

The building is staffed by Housing & Residence Life professional and student staff. There is a full time Master level Residence Life Coordinator, 7 RA’s, and Community Center Staff.

Can I switch buildings?

No, if there are spaces within the building to switch you may speak with your Residence Life Coordinator. You will not be allowed to move to any other building.

How many apartments are in the building?

There are 188 apartments in the building.
