Barton & Douglass Houses

Barton and Douglass Houses offer rooms with private bathrooms (students are responsible for cleaning the bathroom). Rooms are traditionally for 2 students. The houses hold approximately 330 students each. Barton & Douglass Houses are for incoming first-year students and under-class students who are eligible to live on-campus. 

Due to the private bathrooms, Barton & Douglass Houses are premium housing and cost approximately $600 more per semester then standard university housing.

Each room includes the following:

• wall-to-wall carpet, blinds, microfridge and an AC/heating unit
• bedrooms are furnished with a twin extra-long bed, dresser, and desk/chair for each student in the room (there are two built-in closets)
• utilities included in the room rate are cable, internet, and electric heat/AC

Building amenities include:

• a large laundry room
• floor lounges
• large multipurpose room for classes, programs and student use
• mailboxes for each room in the lobby; students are able to pick up their packages from the Community Center desk located in the lobby)

Honors housing is located in Douglass House. First-year honors students will be assured of living in Douglass House if accepted into the Honors College program and the housing deposit is paid by the published deadline, unless the student requires 9-month housing.

Barton and Douglass Houses are staffed by residence life coordinators and resident assistants. These buildings are secured twenty-four hours a day with a card access system used by students to gain entry to the building and elevators, as well as a front desk that is staffed 24/7 with either community center staff or security guards.
