Certificate Requirements

The Graduate Certificate in Professional Sales requires the completion of 12 credits — four required 3-credit courses, all offered as options within the marketing major.

  • MKTG 451: Professional Selling (3) — Explore the role and principles of professional selling as it relates to an organization's marketing strategy. You'll learn specific techniques for uncovering customer needs, delivering effective sales presentations, and building the interpersonal relationships that sustain long-term sales success.
  • MKTG 452: Sales Leadership (3) — Examine the elements of an effective salesforce as a key component of an organization's total marketing effort. Topics include the sales process, salesforce structure, technology applications, and practical issues in recruiting, selecting, training, motivating, and compensating salespeople.
  • MKTG 453: Advanced Professional Selling (3) — Learn advanced personal selling skills, practices and programs with an emphasis on presentations, demonstrations and relationship-building. This highly applied course features discussions, interactive exercises and hands-on practice to sharpen real-world selling abilities.
  • MKTG 454: Sales Innovation and Technology (3) — Explore how technology and artificial intelligence are transforming the sales process. You’ll gain hands-on experience with CRM systems, sales engagement platforms, automation tools and AI-driven analytics for lead generation, pipeline management and forecasting. Topics include conversational intelligence, ethical AI use and digital sales.
