Linguistic Diversity Minor

Enhance your cross-cultural communication skills, learn culturally responsive practices, and prepare yourself to work with linguistically diverse students, clients and audiences.

According to the 2017 Census Bureau, 21 percent of the U.S. population—almost 70 million peoplespeak a language other than English in their homes. The linguistic diversity minor will help you to develop professional strategies that will enable you to work effectively with this large and growing population.

This minor, which offers a comprehensive exploration of best practices for cross-cultural and translingual communication, is open to students in any major who anticipate working in a multicultural, multilingual or international setting.
