Faculty & Staff Consultation

The Counseling Center offers consultation services to support and advise you when you are dealing with students in distress.

During work hours (Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.), you can contact us 410-704-2512 and reach us in a crisis. We can also consult with your more generally about mental health issues and collaborate with you in our mutual efforts to improve the campus community environment.

Assisting Students in Distress

A faculty or staff member is often the first person to recognize when a student is in distress. Here are some gentle reminders when reaching out to the person:

Kognito At-Risk Training For College and university FAculty

Kognito training is a series of engaging, interactive and online simulations in which faculty may practice responding to realistic student situations. This powerful interactive tool can help you identify which of your students might be at risk and how to connect those students with professional help without stepping outside of your faculty role.


Inova EAP offers psychotherapy services for a wide range of presenting problems for TU staff, faculty and their family members. Inova EAP also offers a variety of other services, including:

  • information about resources for child/elder care and adoption services
  • online savings center
  • legal consultation
  • identity theft assistance
