Students, faculty and staff may register personal property (such as computers, bikes and phones) with the TUPD to help aid recovery if the item gets lost, stolen or misplaced.

If you report theft of your property and you don’t have information that law enforcement needs to help you, the odds on getting your property back diminish greatly. If you use the online property registration program that records a description of your property and we get your serial number, the odds on the recovery are much higher. The police enter your serial numbers into a national database. Law enforcement agencies are then able to retrieve the information so that stolen items may be recovered, confirmed as yours, and returned to you. This is kept confidential and is only accessible to law enforcement officers.

Personal property registration is free and available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Register your property now or contact the Community Relations Officer at 410-704-5622 for more information.

A new Maryland law provides free rides on Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) systems to all regular USM faculty and staff members.  Regular status TU faculty and staff can use the Light Rail, the Baltimore Metro Subway, local bus service, and commuter bus service lines 120, 150, and 160 in the Baltimore region at no charge. The free mass transit benefit does not include the MARC trains, any special event buses, or any commuter buses other than lines 120, 150 and 160.

The MTA has provided a sticker that can be affixed to regular university faculty and staff identification cards.  In order to access transit, regular faculty and staff will be required to present their university ID badges with the sticker affixed to it. Stickers are available from the Office of Human Resources in Admin room 101. Regular status faculty and staff can present their current ID to receive a sticker.

Per the requirements of the legislation, this benefit is only extended to regular status faculty and staff. To remain in compliance with the law, contingent status staff, adjunct faculty, and lecturers cannot be issued a sticker.
