Eligible faculty and staff enjoy a generous leave package which includes annual, holiday, personal, and sick leave. 

Please review the leave summaries for specific leave information based upon employee classification. Subject to leave policies, eligible employees may be able to utilize administrative leave, family & medical leave, and other types of leave.

Family & Medical Leave (FMLA)

Eligible employees may take up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave during a 12 month period as outlined in the FMLA policy.

Workers' Compensation/Accident Leave

Workers' Compensation/Accident Leave may be available to employees who suffer a work-related illness or injury.

Sick Leave

An employee who sustains a temporary recoverable illness or injury and has exhausted all other forms of accrued leave may be eligible for additional forms of sick leave as described in the sick leave policy.  All requests for additional forms of sick leave are subject to review and approval by the Office of Human Resources.

Compensatory Leave (Comp Time)

Regular non-exempt staff may be eligible for Comp Time with supervisor approval and completion of the required agreement.

Community Service Leave

Towson University and the USM seek to encourage employees to offer their time and talents to benefit our citizens through community service. Details are outlined below.

Administrative Leave

If necessary, the university may authorize the use of Administrative Leave in the event of an emergency or inclement weather.
